We Need Your Art — And We Need It Now.

Not when you’re “more confident.”
Not once you’ve finished the perfect website.
Not when you’ve finally got time.

We need your art now. Your way of seeing, feeling, and making. The quiet thoughts, the bold colours, the unspoken things that come out when you create with your hands.

Last week, I had the honour of being invited to speak at The Creative Connection — and it reminded me just how powerful creativity can be when it’s shared in the community. People showed up with their stories, their nervous energy, their sparks. And something shifted. We left feeling fuller, braver, and more seen.

Then later that day, I opened the book We Need Your Art — and felt like someone had written a love letter to all of us who make things. Not for praise or perfection, but because something inside us needs to come out and exist in the world.

It’s easy to forget that.
It’s easy to think creativity only counts if it’s monetized, published, or perfectly styled.
But creativity isn’t extra. It’s essential.
It connects us. It grounds us. It helps us remember who we are.

At Playful Works, I’m constantly reminded that creativity doesn’t need to be big to be meaningful. Whether it’s a group of kids cutting and gluing with wild abandon, or a mentoring client saying, “I haven’t done this in years, and it feels like coming home” — the magic happens in the doing. The showing up. The tiny acts of making.

So if you’ve been holding back — waiting to feel ready or legitimate — this is your reminder:

Your art matters.
Your voice matters.
And yes, we need it.

We need messy, joyful, uncertain, unfinished art.
We need people who dare to express something.
We need you.

A gentle prompt, if you need somewhere to begin:

What do you want your art to say — even if no one else sees it?
You don’t have to share your answer.
Just write, doodle, paint, or collage it.
Even five quiet minutes counts.

Let me know if this resonates with you — or if you’ve been dreaming of something creative and aren’t sure how to start. I’d love to hear.

We’re all figuring it out as we go. But the important part? We keep going.

So, how do you begin?

Maybe it’s signing up for that workshop you keep bookmarking.
Maybe it’s picking up your sketchbook again — even if it’s been months.
Maybe it’s saying your idea out loud for the first time.

Whatever it is: start small. Start messy. But start.

The creative community is listening — and cheering you on.

Let’s talk about it:

💭 What helps you stay connected to your creative practice?
✨ Or — what’s something you’ve been quietly dreaming of creating?

I’d love to hear from you. Share your thoughts in the comments or drop me a message — especially if you’re ready to make something happen but not sure where to begin.

We’re building a creative life, together. Let’s make space for play, for colour, and for courage.
